TJX Homesense
Graphic Design Co-op

July-December 2021

My first Co-op experience was as a graphic designer at TJX’s Homesense store. I collaborated and designed with a small team of dedicated designers, copy writers and brand specialists to make weekly emails, social media posts, and additional design needs. I designed through multiple holidays and assisted in a company wide rebrand in September. I helped the sister store, Homegoods with assignments and revisions when called. I have learned about the importance of the brand’s persona, voice, and tone throughout the incredible 6 month experience.

Weekly Emails

Homesense generally sends 2-3 emails to their email list every week and I was responsible for their designs. Weekly briefs instructed me with ideas for layouts which I pulled from templates designed by me and other designers. The brand team instructed us the concepts and ideas for each week based on what was looking the best in store that week and I worked closely with the photography and copywriters to craft each email uniquely. In July and August I worked with the original branding and then in September we rebranded with new templates and designs with a new graphic style, typefaces, and an expanded color palette. From November till the end of my co-op I assisted with transitioning the new emails to the Holiday look and Feel.

Pin Pad Rebrand

When customers check out in store with a card they all use the pin pad, therefore it was necessary to update the branding on it to align with our new look and feel. I designed these 4 slides that each rotate while the customer is checking out. There is a welcome slide with our new phrase “standout pieces. outstanding prices.” a delivery slide to let customers know we offer delivery for items, a TJXR rewards slide to educate, and a thank you slide for after the happy customer has payed.

Holiday Social Media Posts

These are designed for the @homesense_us Instagram feed for the holidays that occurred during my time with the company. The holiday posts allow more freedom to break the color schemes and graphics of the brand and focus on motifs and colors of the holidays they choose to highlight.

Web Gift Card Page

This is the rebranded gift card landing page on homesense.com I designed after many rounds of revisions. These two designs are complete with new graphic elements of crossbar, color values and typefaces.

Gift Card Sleeve

I was tasked with designing a new gift card sleeve for Homesense shoppers to use for their gift cards in store. This project included a lot of creative freedom and had little guidelines. I cast a wide net in the first round, then after review I narrowed down to 2 main options, and then after a second review designed the final.
